Are we calling it Fall or late Summer these days?  I guess I'll go with "early Fall" or maybe even coin a new term "Autumner," since we are back to school, but it's still nice and warm and pleasant every day and the leaves have not changed here yet!

Did anybody pick a whole bunch of blueberries this summer?  We love to do that (and Michigan is GREAT for blueberries).  But what to do with them all since they will go bad rather quickly just refrigerating them?  Some people make jam or syrup or something else very yummy.  These options involve adding sugar to the blueberries which is tasty but not ideal at our house.  So, I keep it simple and just freeze them!  Then we have delicious berries even in the winter time--perfect for pancakes, waffles, muffins, smoothies or...breakfast ice cream!

What on earth is breakfast ice cream, you ask?  Well, if you scour the internet, you will probably find it called "nice cream," but I was trying to make it fun for the kids when I first tried it, so we called it breakfast ice cream.  I mean, is there a bad time of day to eat ice cream?  Not in our book!  And this one is nutrient dense, delicious, and keeps us full all morning!  (Another thing we try to avoid is snacking!)

A lot of "nice creams" on the internet just use

Stair Workout for Runners – The Best 20 Minute At-Home Workout https://www.sprintingspoon.com/stair-workout-for-runners/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=stair-workout-for-runners https://www.sprintingspoon.com/stair-workout-for-runners/#respond Thu, 10 Jun 2021 19:30:17 +0000 https://www.sprintingspoon.com/?p=1453

I'm excited to bring you another workout on my blog.  I've posted about health and wellness a lot lately given my current cancer diagnosis and health protocols.  However, I actually wrote this workout last summer, just a few days after I received my diagnosis.  I had met a friend at the track for some sprints and stairs, and then I tailored the workout to make it at-home friendly.

Did anybody quit their gym in the last year due to the current situation in the world?  We did.  It was closed for six months, and by the time it reopened, we had outfitted our basement with more equipment, loved the time savings of not driving to the gym, and just stayed home.  There are certainly a few things that we miss (saunas, the huge pool for the kids, lap swimming any time, cables), but mostly we don't miss it.

I'm a big believer that you do NOT need a gym to get a terrific workout.  Use what you've got and get creative, and you'll be amazed at what you can do.  I'm also a big believer in the power of short workouts!  It's amazing what you can do in 10-20 minutes!  In fact, I did these 12-minute workouts for quite a while when I was really getting into strength training more.  12 minutes, and I was toast!

Easy Natural Detox Protocols https://www.sprintingspoon.com/easy-natural-detox-protocols/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=easy-natural-detox-protocols https://www.sprintingspoon.com/easy-natural-detox-protocols/#respond Mon, 05 Apr 2021 19:58:26 +0000 http://www.sprintingspoon.com/?p=1419

When I first got my cancer diagnosis and began jumping into learning all about it (and all the alternative treatments that so many people have used to treat it), I started running into the same overarching principles over and over again.  One of those words I kept running into (no matter how the doctor recommended you do it) was “detox.”

This is sort of a cheap word nowadays in the world of health and wellness.  It’s so trendy to “detox.”  Most people think of this as a very short-term "cleanse" that is very difficult, totally disrupts normal life, and causes you to lose 5-10 pounds quickly (which you usually just gain right back!).

The detox idea I'm speaking of requires a little bit of persistent work over a long period of time for results that last!  I mean saying goodbye to chemicals, molds, parasites, metals, and viruses that cause subtle, underlying health problems.  These aren't things that clear the body in a week.  They take time.  However, I've found my detox protocols to be rather enjoyable!  Yes, they are time intensive, but they make me feel great.  So great that I keep on doing them!
